Adding Transit Warranty to Your Shipments

Transit warranty covers the value of your goods if they’re lost or damaged in transit. It’s an extra layer of protection that helps you recover costs quickly and keep customers happy when something goes wrong.

Please note: Interparcel provides transit cover for the first $100 AUD of your shipment’s value, covering loss or damage. For items of higher value, you may purchase enhanced transit warranty of up to $2,000 for a fee equal to 2% of the declared value, with a maximum charge of $38* + GST. If your shipment is valued above $2,000, only $2,000 will be covered.

Transit warranty is not available when selecting an ATL service. Restricted items are only covered for loss, not damage. Prohibited items cannot be sent through Interparcel and Transit warranty will not apply under any circumstances if prohibited items are sent. Please refer to the list of Restricted and Prohibited items and our Terms of Use for more information.

*This charge is subject to change.

If your shipment’s value is under $100, and the service allows transit warranty, the first $100 will be automatically covered. If your shipment’s value exceeds $100, you can purchase enhanced transit warranty in two ways:

Below are the steps for each option so you can set it up in the way that best suits your workflow.

Add enhanced transit warranty manually

When your orders are ready to send in the Shipping Manager, you can add enhanced transit warranty for any shipment valued above $100 in two ways:

  1. Using the transit warranty icon: Click the icon next to the order. If you hover over it, you’ll see the cost to add enhanced transit warranty.
  2. Transit Warranty message Transit Warranty icon
  3. Through the order window: Click on your order to open the shipment details window, then toggle on Transit Cover.
  4. order window order window

Automate enhanced transit warranty

To automate this process, you’ll need to create a rule in the Rule Manager.

  1. Log in to your Interparcel account. Navigate to: Shipping Tools → Rule Manager. Click Add a New Rule.
  2. Import from CSV page
  3. Name the rule, for example Add Enhanced Transit Warranty, then click Add a condition.
  4. Import from CSV page
  5. From the dropdown, choose which shipments the rule applies to, for example All Shipments.
  6. Import from CSV page
  7. Click Add an action.
  8. Import from CSV page
  9. From the dropdown, select Transit Cover as the action.
  10. Import from CSV page
  11. Click Save Rule.
  12. Import from CSV page
  13. All shipments valued above $100 will now automatically include enhanced transit warranty in the total price, as long as you're not using an ATL service.

Remeber that when using Rule Manager:

  • After you set up a rule, it will apply to any newly imported orders. It won't work retrospectively. You can delete your orders in the Shipping Manager and import them again to apply this rule.
  • Rules will work in the order they're set. You will need to reorder the list if there are any conflicts.
