Packaging A Pallet

Follow this simple step-by-step guide on how to prepare a pallet for safe collection and delivery.

Packaging a Pallet

Sending a pallet with Interparcel is straight forward, as long as you follow a few rules.
This simple guide will help you ensure that your pallet is prepared and packaged correctly.

STEP 1
Select the correct Pallet
Choosing the correct pallet is important to ensure your goods arrive on time and undamaged.
  • Make sure the pallet is large enough to prevent overhang of shipment pieces.
  • The pallet must be sturdy enough to support the load.
  • Do not use a pallet with broken boards or protruding nail heads.
STEP 2
Stack items carefully
For shipments that contain boxes or stackable items, follow these rules for best results:
  • Ensure cartons are new and of proper strength to withstand stacking.
  • Securely close, staple and/or seal cartons.
  • Align boxes in columns, corner to corner, for the greatest stacking strength.
  • Boxes should not extend past the pallet edges.
  • Don't pyramid the boxes - keep the top layer flat to minimize the risk of damage.
STEP 3
Secure your shipment to the Pallet
Choosing the correct pallet is important to ensure your goods arrive on time and undamaged.
  • Using a good quality stretch wrap, wrap around your goods - ideally for five revolutions.
  • Ensure you wrap across the top of your shipment, all the way down, including around the pallet too.
  • To ensure stability, corner boards and banding are recommended.
  • Insert layers of cardboard between layers of freight to absorb vibration and distribute the weight evenly.
STEP 4
Label your shipment
To avoid any delays while shipping your pallet, it should be correctly labelled:
  • Apply an address label to each side, and on top, of every pallet in the shipment.
  • Each address label should include telephone numbers and complete delivery address information including postal code.
  • If a shipping label is available for your chosen pallet service, ensure it is printed and taped securely to the pallet.
STEP 5
Collection of your Pallet
Please check the following to ensure a problem free collection:
  • Your pallet will be collected by a large truck. You need to ensure this truck is able to access your premises.
  • To avoid delays and addidional costs, all packaging and labeling should be completed before the driver arrives.
