Build a successful Sales Strategy for Cyber Season

Black Friday has surpassed boxing day sales. According to Microsoft, last year Black Friday got 68M transactions during Cyber Week, 6.1M parcels delivered by Australia Post and 80% Year-Over-Year increase in Shopify Merchant Trade.

Cyber season is not just about one or two days… every year Cyber season starts earlier and experts recommend retailers to start Black Friday sales at least 7 days before. This means you will need to start being active on social media at least 2 weeks before Black Friday.

Are you ready for this? We give you some tips to stand out this year and build a successful Black Friday sales strategy to make the most it:

Play with Timings

It's never too early to start offering Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. Usually, Black Friday is extended to a week, prepare your sales strategy and think about starting to maximize sales at this time of the year. Your competitors might start early as well, but if you are the first one in your niche, you are definitely going to stand out.

Offering late sales will also help you increase revenue. When you send last-minute offers you are creating a sense of urgency that works very well for Black Friday. Throughout the day your customer will most likely be on their phones checking sales and comparing prices. Launch 15-minute offers to push buyers, so they won't have time to compare.

Use the leverage of abandoned carts to sell more

Surely, you've got some abandoned carts. Take advantage of it by offering discounts for those products using a retargeting campaign. They already liked them; they just need a push.

Offer other benefits

Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales in Australia are all about product discounts. Stand out from your competitors by offering something different. These are some good practises for ecommerce that retailers used in previous years:

  • Your purchase, your choice: Customers like to choose. Give them the gift of comparing and select the discount they want, for example, one could be % discount and the other one free shipping.

  • Donate to charity: Offer your products at the same price but give the money you would have discounted to charity.

  • Subscription advantages: Offer points, additional discounts for Christmas or free products depending on how much they spend.

Send offers by phone

The more comfortable the better. Why buy using a computer if you can do it easily and faster using smartphones? Phone purchases from the sofa are common, you will need to keep that in mind if you want to get the attention of your potential customers.

Among all the mobile-first sales strategies, we highlight two of them that will help you sell more during Black Friday and Cyber Monday: SMS and Push notifications.

SMS must be easy to understand, fast to read and can include links to your shop. Since the rise of alternate messaging apps, SMS is used less which makes it a good opportunity for businesses to stand out. An SMS campaign can have more success than an email marketing campaign. Be clear on your message and make it attractive to the user to get the click you are looking for.

Push notifications will help you advise your customers about new or last-minute offers. But don't be intrusive, receiving too many push notifications can be annoying to the user and make them turn them off.
