Hunter Express Surcharges Explained
At Interparcel, we strive to provide transparent pricing for your shipping needs. However, some additional charges may arise due to your particular circumstances or specific handling requirements.
To help you minimize any unexpected costs for your shipments, we've expanded on the most common surcharges with Hunter Express. Review these guidelines to better understand which fees might apply to your shipment.
Freight Related Surcharges
Accurate quoting and booking rely on entering the correct weight, dimensions, packaging type, and address. Below are some of the CouriersPlease surcharges to consider:
- Misdeclaration Surcharge*: This surcharge applies when the declared weight, dimensions, or other shipment details are inaccurate. Couriers rely on accurate information to calculate shipping costs, and discrepancies may result in additional fees. The final fee, based on our team’s review of the parcel’s actual dimensions and weight, will be issued after the surcharge assessment is complete.
- Futile/No Job Fee*:A fee of $40 AUD +GST is billed when a collection is booked, but the consignment is not available or ready for pick-up.
- Return to Sender Fee (RTS)*: This surcharge applies when a shipment is returned to the sender either at the customer’s request or at the carrier’s discretion. The total cost will vary based on the circumstances and will include freight charges and any other applicable fees.
If the sender initiates an RTS request, the request will only be processed once full payment has been received. The RTS fee remains applicable even if the sender refuses delivery or is unable to accept the returned shipment.
- Redelivery Fee*: Applicable to each attempt to re-deliver goods after initial failure (or where re-delivery fee has been paid for each attempt after the first attempt). There is no flat fee and costs will vary. Our Customer Service team will confirm the surcharge amount and will only submit re-delivery requests once payment has been processed. Redeliveries to residential addresses will also incur an additional fee.
- Redirection Fee*: This charge is applied when details such as the suburb, postcode, or state are incorrect or if shipment is to be addressed to a different delivery location. These errors can lead to delivery delays or the need for rerouting. A re-direction fee will be confirmed once we are provided with the updated delivery details. Our Customer Service team will only submit this request once payment has been processed.
- Change Request Fee*: A fee of $15 AUD +GST is applied when the service selected requires modification such as (but not limited to) change in service level, delivery instructions, or cancellations.
- Address Error/Update*: A fee of $25 AUD +GST is applicable when the collection or delivery address is insufficient or incorrect and requires adjustment. Our Customer Service team will only submit this request once correct information and payment has been processed.
- Residential pickup/delivery: When sending to or from a residential address, some surcharges are applicable based on the weight of the consignment:
- Up to 49 kg (dead or cubic weight): $10 AUD +GST per consignment
- 50 kg to 74 kg (dead or cubic weight): $20AUD +GST per consignment
- 75 kg to 99 kg (dead or cubic weight): $30 AUD +GST per consignment
- Over 100 kg (dead or cubic weight): $50 AUD +GST per consignment
- Time-Specific and Time-Slot Deliveries*: If a delivery requires scheduling as either a Time-specific delivery or a Time-Slot delivery (i.e stores/branches/distribution centers), a surcharge applies based on cubic or dead weight, whichever is greater:
- $100 AUD + GST for deliveries to capital cities and consignments up to 25 kg
The above is in addition to a Book-in fee of $2.50 AUD +GST.
- Storage: A fee of $3.50 AUD +GST is applicable per carton or $15 AUD +GST per pallet when the consignment requires storage due to insufficient delivery information or under specific instructions.
- Waiting/Loading/Un-loading Time*: A fee of $100 AUD +GST per hour, charged in 5-minute increments, applies after the free waiting allowance has been exceeded at pickup or delivery.
- Tailift Truck: If a tail lift is required but not selected at the time of booking, a fee of $120 AUD +GST applies either for collection or delivery location.

Sizing, Packaging and other Related Surcharges
- Length or Oversize Surcharge*: Parcels and pallets that exceed 1.20 metres in any direction will attract a surcharge.
- An additional charge of $3 AUD +GST applies to any item that is 1.20m or over, but less than 1.49m in any direction.
- An additional charge of $10 AUD +GST applies to any item that is 1.5m or over, but less than 2.49m in any direction.
